Beyoncé Dropping Something Different

Queen Bey, also known as Beyoncé, does it again by making her own clothing line called, Ivy Park. Ivy Park was presented April 1 with her first clothing line that will be an active wear collection.

If you didn’t notice Ivy seems pretty familiar with Beyoncé from her baby girl, Blue Ivy and now her clothing line Ivy Park. She talks about how she came up with the name of her brand. She came up with the name by having her daughter a part of it and her favorite place where she knew she could escape to.

“We can all go there; we’re all welcomed. It’s anywhere we create for ourselves,” said Beyoncé in Elle magazine. “For me, it’s the place that my drive comes from. I think we all have that place we go to when we need to fight through something, set our goals and accomplish them.”Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 3.06.53 PM

The mission for Beyoncé was to make women feel powerful in her clothing and to show women that we need to focus on our mental health. We need to become more confident and that is what she is trying to show as she models her clothing.

Places like Topshop, Nordstrom, and Net-a-Porter will have Beyoncé’s collection this
week with reasonable prices ranging from $25 to $235.

Her clothes hit stores today.

Some of her workout clothing are leotards, now I won’t be wearing that to the gym but the sweat shirts and hats I may consider.

Tell me what you think of her new clothing line.

Domino’s is Changing the Delivery Game

Domino’s Pizza has a new expert in town. Their new car, DXP, is changing the delivery game before any other pizza franchise so you don’t get your pizza cold during the delivery. Domino’s new delivery car will have something like an oven to keep it warm. That’s crazy and a little scary.

Couldn’t that go wrong in many ways? Or, what if they Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 9.46.25 AMgot into an accident?

This new vehicle is equipped with only one seat in the whole car. The rest is made for all the possible orders someone could want, from sides, sodas, and up to 80 pizzas. They might as well make them in the car too instead of having to drive back and forth. That’s probably what they are working on now!

There are currently 97 of these models being made and on the roads. With a lot of research behind the work, for all types of weather, they look to get more off the line and into the communities by the end of the year.

The closest Domino’s vehicle to West Virginia is in Virginia. Virginia has 2 functioning DXPs making their rounds. If you want your hometown or your residential area Domino’s to get a DXP go to their website and vote in hopes of getting your location equipped with this new delivery system.Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 9.49.39 AM

Happy Belated 75th Birthday

HEY! WE MISSED A VERY IMPORTANT BIRTHDAY!

On March 1st M&M’s turned a big 75! Throughout this year, M&M’s will be reverting back to 12 different retro packaging that was used back 75 years ago when the creation of the M&M was brought to market.

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 9.44.58 PM

They want you tell everybody, says the new commercial celebrating the company. In this commercial the “Candy Man” is sung by Zedd and Aloe Blacc showing the progression of the quality and creativeness of the television commercials. Zedd and Blacc have put their own spin on the theme song to entice the younger demographics.

M&M also has created a hashtag #CelebrateWithM for consumers to use during the year. Becoming very active on social media and other social outlets have proven to be good for business.   Use the hashtag to see which retro commercials M&M will re-introduce to the general public.

Happy belated birthday M&M’s, keep doing what you’re doing. Looking forward to another 75 years and keeping M&M’s dissolving in our mouths not our hands.

Fund For a Cause

The month of March has two big events that college kids live for each year, spring break and March Madness.  Spring break is the season when many college students start to head down south to nicer weather or to an island to escape from the stress, anxiety and responsibility of school.

In a previous blog, I talked about the GoFundMe website. Unfortunately, people are starting to post requests that are absurd and take away from the true purpose of the website. My GoFundMe blog mentioned Kanye West’s $53M debt. People actually donated to help him get out his debt crisis.  Now students have caught on and are going to great lengths to solicit generous people to donate their spring break experience.

On February 5th, Braxton Lee Johnson and many others have started a GoFundMe page for people to donate to their desires to participate in a spring break experience. Unfortunately, for Braxton Lee, it didn’t work out for him. Shouldn’t GoFundMe have limitations and regulations on what you are trying to raise money for?

No, how about you do this.

I AGREE!

There are those causes out there that are in serious need of financial help. For example, many people have illnesses that they cannot afford to have done to make them healthy again. Why not donate to them so they can work on living a healthy and happy life? And to not drown in medical bills. No one wants to spend their time sick or in a hospital. I know I don’t. The site shouldn’t be used for people to who are looking to cross off “bucket list” items at someone else’s expense.

What happened to people working hard for their money and making it their own way? Today, too many people rely on others to pay for things they want instead of going out and making the money themselves.

Shamrock vs. Clover

Guinness got the shamrock wrong.

You might already know the difference, but for those that don’t know the difference between a clover and a shamrock, they may look the same but they are not the same especially for St. Patty’s Day. The clover usually is known to have four leafs and the shamrock is the true Ireland symbol. It strictly has three leaves.

An ad on Toronto’s subway system shows the Canadian leaf for the March 16th foliage the day before St. Patty’s, and then next to it is a four-leaf clover. People were really shocked that of all brands to get the shamrock wrong was Guinness, an Irish dry stout beer that originated in Dublin.

Gareth O’Connell was the one that told DailyEdge.ie. Guinness was very fast to respond and got the sign taken down right away and apologized for the mistake. “It was in the excitement of getting ready for next week.”

The way Guinness handled everything is how it should be when there is a mistake. This is a holiday where everyone is Irish today and a lot of people drink a lot. About 13 million pints of Guinness will be consumed for St. Patrick’s Day so Guinness wants to make sure that they don’t offend or piss off their customers by their advertisement.

5 Investments That Helped Kanye Go Into Debt

From my previous post, I decided to look into what else could be causing Kanye to go into debt. Here are the top 5 investments that could have been done at a lower cost:

  1. Kim’s Engagement Ring – Kanye popped the question back in Oct. 2013. According to E! News, celebrity jewelry designer, Michael O’Connor and Lorraine Schwartz estimate the ring cost around $2 to $3 million.

2. Kim’s Surprise Birthday Party – Kanye threw Kim a surprise party renting out a movie theater, Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas to see Steve Jobs. It was a pregnant birthday party where many people pretended to also be pregnant. The theater is known as the best luxury cinemas in California. This party was estimated to be than $5,000.

Being a celebrity you can spend whatever you want, but you can always bring it down a notch and save money. Ever think of that Kanye?

This next investment shocked me.

3. Kanye’s Hair Cuts – Kanye is very particular about his hair, maybe a little too particular. Kanye gets it cut every day but it doesn’t come at a low cost like what most people would pay for. Rhianna’s father, Ronald Fenty, was on tour with Kanye back in 2010 says in an interview that Kanye spends $500 every day to get his haircut. If he does that every day he is spending around $182,500 a year on just hair cuts! What is there to cut after a day?

4. Yeezy Clothing Line – From my last post you can see that Yeezy clothing line is not going too well. As it is seen and known to look like a homeless person’s clothing line and yet Kanye still keeps investing. The clothing line has put him $16 million in debt since last year.

Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 1.54.18 PM

5. Fashion Show – Just a few weeks ago Kanye held a fashion show in Madison Square Garden for his clothing line. It is reported that Kanye spent close to $2 million.

How about changing your habits Kanye? Clearly, you need to stop spending money like it’s nothing.

Homeless or Yeezy – Can’t Tell

Kanye’s debt began to escalate when he started his clothing line, Yeezy. It hasn’t done well in the apparel market and many consumers believe it’s the worst clothing line ever. Not to mention the fact that it is extremely overpriced. Some of his clothing prices reach upwards of $1,500. That’s outrageous! Whatever cost that much, better put me on the Red Carpet or make me famous just wearing the clothing itself.

His clothing line has been in the developmental process for over 15 years and now has put him into a multi-million dollar debt situation. That’s a lot more debt than most, but since his clothing line isn’t attracting those high-end shoppers it was targeting, it isn’t pulling in the profit he was hoping.

In a recent social media rant by Kanye West, he went on about being some $53 million in debt. Recently, a fan set up a “Go Fund Me” page for Kanye to get out of debt. Go Fund Me is a website where people can contribute to others in large or small increments of payments, this source is known as crowdfunding. If there is anyone in the world that needs a Go Fund Me Page, it isn’t Kanye. Given the fact that he is married to a Kardashian, no one should have pity on him or Kim. Let the Kardashian’s bail him out.

The clothing isn’t flashy either, many are claiming it looks like an outfit homeless people are able to put together.

Ellen Degeneres makes the point that other people would greatly appreciate someone setting up a Go Fund Me page. I know I would. It just seems ridiculous to do that for a celebrity and really wonder why people would spend their own money and give it to celebrities like they aren’t making enough already.

Thankfully, Kanye will not be accepting the money from the Go Fund Me page. It will go to a non-profit organization called Notes for Notes. This organization provides musical equipment to young children and allows them to book studio time to encourage their love of music and to become the next great musicians of the future. The charity will receive around $7,000, and those who contributed money thinking it would be going to Kanye will get a full refund if they aren’t interested in contributing to today’s young musicians.

I’ll support children working towards and achieve their goals and dreams, but not Kanye’s. Who will you fund?

Soaking Up Some Sweat

Ask any athlete or sports enthusiast if they’ve heard of Under Armour and you won’t find one who hasn’t. Ask those same individuals if they know any history of the Under Armour brand, and most of them know little or nothing at all about it the product.

Under Armour was born on the University of Maryland’s football field. Its special teams’ captain, Kevin Plank, hated that he was constantly changing his sweat laden clothing and set out to develop a material that would minimize or eliminate the need for frequent changes.

Screen Shot 2016-02-27 at 3.24.23 PM

In 1996, 23-year-old Plank conducted extensive research on the athletic benefits of synthetic fabrics and designed the first Under Armour HeatGear® T-shirt. This product was engineered with moisture-wicking performance fibers that keep athletes cool, dry, and light in the most brutally hot conditions.

He started selling the T-shirts out of the trunk of his car and by the end of 1996; he made its first deal that generated $17,000 in revenue for the brand. The following year, he came out with a Gear® fabric, which keeps athletes warm, dry, and light in cold conditions, and then the AllSeasonGear® line, which keeps athletes comfortable between the extremes.

Under Armour has become the number one clothing apparel for athletes. It’s smart, functional, stylish and comfortable clothing that delivers what it promises. Its popularity proves that the Under Armour brand is well respected in sporting arenas around the world.

More Freshness In Your Bite

Subway’s new commercial is sending their consumers a message about their products freshness since their first day, in 1965.

“Our brand was fresh from the very beginning,” said Chris Carroll, Subway chief advertising officer. “Consumers today are looking for a lot more. We’re converting all our products to antibiotic free, we took all the trans fats out.”

Subway has roughly 44,000 locations and still growing. That is more than McDonalds.

Co-founder Fred DeLuca, who has recently passed, wanted Subway right where it is today in between healthy and fast food. People want to be healthy, but to keep up with it can be difficult. Subway is to satisfy your hunger with freshness and not just empty calories like other fast-food restaurants.

Fast and healthier…maybe depending on what you pick/make.

Don’t Be a Marlboro

Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 3.34.55 PM

Everyone knows that smoking is bad for you, your body, and the people around you. So why do it?

Some say it’s an addiction, some say it calms them down, some say they only do it when they are drinking, and use every excuse in the book. According to American Lung Association, smoking causes 80-90% lung cancer cases in men and women.

This disease is not prejudice and will affect anyone and everyone even those who are around you when smoking. Save you and your loved ones. Take the pledge to stop smoking and to stop Marlboro’s new campaign “Be Marlboro.” Why damage your body and put it at risk?

Save your body, don’t damage it!
